AKHA Speaker Lauds Ukanafun Lawmaker For Medical Outreach To Constituents

The speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assem bly (AKHA) has lauded the member for Ukanafun State Constituency, Dr Charity Ido, for the threeday medical outreach organised for her constituents which commenced on December 21-23, 2020.

 Mr Aniekan Bassey commended her for the great feat and love for her people, calling on them to consider sending her back to the Assembly for a second term for greater impact and effective representation.

 He recalled that last year he came to Ukanafun when Ido met with her constituents to present her progress report in the state legislature, as well as empowering them, saying that he was back this year to witness the medical outreach she has organized for her people to meeting their health needs and also empower them. 

 The speaker added that the success was due to her great team spirit in the state Assembly and support to the administration of Gov Udom Emmanuel. Ido commended Governor Emmanuel and members of his cabinet for their support, the speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family and stakeholders in Ukanafun for their partnership in bringing life-changing programmes and projects to her people. Ido who is also the chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, assured of more life-changing programme, purposeful and effective representation in the future. 

 The chairman on the occasion and a former member for Ukanafun State Constituency, Obong Saturday Akpan, commended Ido for the feat that she has attained, adding that the people of Ukanafun did not make a mistake with her choice. He urged her to continue with her good works in a bid to write her name in gold, as well as in the hearts of Ukanafun people. 

 The event featured the presentation of starter packs and generating sets to indigenes who were trained on barbing and laundry skills. Also, wrappers were presented to 130 women in the area, while 40 youths and 39 women were empowered financially, including payment of bursary to 51 students from Ukanafun extraction across various tertiary institutions in the country. 

 Meanwhile, it was disclosed that about 50 surgeries after due diagnoses were performed on patients with diverse health challenges since the commencement of the medical outreach. In attendance were elders, women, youths and stakeholders who came out in their large numbers to grace the occasion to give support to their representative at the 7th Assembly.
